The Following Post Will Make You Smile

Yarn-bombing (from Wikipedia) is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colourful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fibre rather than paint or chalk.

It was only when I came to post the photos I took yesterday and do a quick online search that I realised 9th June was International Yarn Bombing Day 2012.

(via yarnbombing.com)

…Suddenly the sight I saw as I walked across Wettstein Brücke in Basel made complete sense.

You can see one of the members of ‘Basel FarbARTig verstriggt’ tidying up some loose threads.

The stitched part reads “I love to stay here”

The entire railing along Wettstein Brücke had been given a knitted overcoat! The group responsible is called “Basel farbARTig verstriggt“.

I hope you’re smiling now.

If you've made it this far down the post I bet you've got something to say. Go on, say it.
