Yarn-bombing (from Wikipedia) is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colourful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fibre rather than paint or chalk.
It was only when I came to post the photos I took yesterday and do a quick online search that I realised 9th June was International Yarn Bombing Day 2012.
…Suddenly the sight I saw as I walked across Wettstein Brücke in Basel made complete sense.
The entire railing along Wettstein Brücke had been given a knitted overcoat! The group responsible is called “Basel farbARTig verstriggt“.
I hope you’re smiling now.
